In chinese culture, baby's one month birthday calls for a celebration. Usually the new parents introduce the newborn to families and friends. Guests usually give the baby 'red envelope' (with money) as a gift and sometimes baby girls receive jewellery. The parents would also hand out red-dyed hard boil eggs to guests as a symbolize of happiness and renewal of life.
I'm not a very traditional person, but mum thought it would be a nice touch to do a little one month celebration for Scarlett, given that she is part chinese and all. So she did some red eggs while I baked a chocolate cake. At dinner, she cooked us some awesome noodle dish - She claimed that we have to eat noodles as noodles represent longevity or something. Nothing fancy, just a small touch to commemorate the occasion.
Of course, what is a celebration without gifts. Mum gave bubs her first gold jewellery, a baby anklet.
Happy 1 month our precious one. We love you very very much! xxx
