monthly milestone: 4 months

Photobucket

Scarlett turned 4 months on the 16th Jan so you can see this post is a tad late. Nevermind, better late than never and I've got a good excuse for that anyway as you know, we're on holiday :)

Anyway, I could definitely tell the significant difference from 3 to 4 months. At 4 months, bubby has truly discover her voice and is babbling non stop. She also laughs and giggles all the time, it doesnt take alot to set her off. She'll flashes her big tootless grin if you look at her in the eye long enough and long, i mean, mere 5 seconds. Overall, she's a very happy baby unles she's hungry and you forgot to feed her on time. Oh yeah, never messes with her feeding time because she'll definitely let you know.

She has also discovered her hands and feet and can play with them all the time. She also has a very good grip on things and grabs at anything in near sight. My hair has suffered a couple of her great grasp and boy I had to yank it out of her hand - That gives me a great reason to probably snip my hair shorter.

Bubby is also a bit less dependent for attention now. She no longer wakes up in the morning screaming for someone right away - often she will wake up and amuse herself in her cot on her own, babbling away and chewing on her hands. I would normally leave her be and sleep awhile longer until I start hearing her coos turning into abit agro over the monitor before finally getting up. Unlike before, she would just screamed and I would jolt and jumped out from bed straight away.

Having said that, 4 months is when babies tend to go into a growth spurt, which is what Scarlett is experiencing at the moment. She has started to wake up once at night to feed. She also seemed to be hungry very quickly and that is also a sign of probably its almost time to start her on solids. I have started to totally wean her off her Colic formula and put her on Gold formula.

I'm not so sure if shes teething, but I kind of suspect she is as she has been chewing alot of anything she can grasp on, mostly her hands or fingers. She also drools alot and her cheeks are quite rosey. She's not fussy or cranky so I'm not so sure. I guess perhaps in a few weeks she might be so we shall see.

All in all, 4 months has been great. She's at this age where it's finally starting to get a whole of fun. It puts us back into perspective that those first few weeks of pure hardships and sleepless nights are so worth it!
