Scarlett's first birthday

We celebrated Lil S turning a year old this weekend. As new parents, it was a bittersweet moment. Well more sweet than bitter of course. The bitter part was where I felt that my baby is growing up too quick. Before you know it, they will become teenagers and move out from your house. I do think that the umbilical cord has never been cut on my end, no matter how old they grow up to be.

Having said that, we had fun! We invited a handful of our friends, families and neighbour to share this special occasion. Some of them have been through the whole pregnancy to birth and motherhood journey with me and they know how important this day is to us. It was nice they were there to celebrate it with us.

I have decided that for Lil S first birthday, we would just keep things simple. Put out some delicious food and make a memorable cake and have everyone gather around to eat and be merry. As I have started to work full time this week, I just have no time to plan a whole nine yard party. Also Lil S won’t remember it anyway! Next year, she can choose her own theme and I could then plan it in style!

I am really proud of myself for making Scarlett this cake! It was very ambitious of me but I really wanted the cake to be the WOW factor so I did pull a long nighter and put my heart and soul making it. 

To be fair, this was actually my first attempt at dabbling with fondant. I have always love how those gorgeous looking fondant iced cake looked and wanted to make one so I did.

Happy first birthday my beloved possum, our first born! You are the best thing that ever happened to us and we love you so very much!
