Miss Bossy's first haircut

Indeed! This post is all about Miss Bossy's first haircut! Well, I have to journal it down, don't I? It's her first haircut and I'm a mummy, that's what mummies do! lol

It was non-eventful. In hindsight, it was great that it was non-eventful. Can you imagine what  it would be like if she was freaking out and screaming? Or should I say, when Miss Bossy screams? Pandamonium!

Being a half Asian kid, she unfortunately did not inherit that straight thick Chinese hair gene from me. She, however, has very wispy, thin, slightly curly hair. Oddly, her curls are only at the bottom end of the hair. I have been trying to grow her hair out for a loooong loooooooooong time but it is so snail crawling slow. Here was I thinking that if I did not cut her hair at all (since birth), maybe it will get to the length and thickness I desire.

Well, apparently not. In actual fact, you need to cut the baby's hair as soon as you can so that it will grow faster and thicker. Well, why did somebody not tell me that earlier! Poor Scarlett had to endure messy, disproportionate hair length for, bless her, almost two years of her life! Anyway, that was all a distant memory when we brought her to the hair salon in NZ to get it snip off.

When we got to the salon, we were seated at the reception area as the lady was busy with another kid. During that short 5 mins wait, Scarlett was starting to get fussy, as you do, and I was like 'Oh man, here we go!' Lucky for us, I spotted a jar of lollipop on the reception counter and took one as a bribe and it worked like a charm! I also came well armed with a portable dvd player with her favourite Peppa pig show so I put that on and placed it on the counter in front of her and it was like magic. Not a peep, tear or anything.

She took it like a champ, with some bribes of course but whatever works!

It also helped that the nice lady was great with children and that, ease Scarlett heaps. The nice lady snipped off quite a bit of her hair and all her curls were gone. But I wasn't too bothered about it because, hair grows people! lol!

I told you it was non-eventful but that's how it should be! I would have otherwise be very tempted to throttle her should she start throwing a hissy fit at the salon. :)

Just an example of her BEFORE photo - Messy hair

Nice lady propped her up on the 'Princess Chair' and had a nice wee chat to make her feel comfortable.. She was excellent with little children! I guess that's her job, isn't it?

Spot the happy mum in the mirror.. lol!

Oohh!! What is this thing mum put into my hand?

All is good when there's Peppa pig and a lollipop in hand..

I didn't take an after photo straight away because I thought we'd better get out of there fast as there's so much good behavior time limit you can get with Scarlett. I know my daughter very well, if she's anything like me, her attention span is SHORT.

I did, however took some photos of her while she's having her dinner that very same day. I know, terrible me couldn't give the poor child some peace eating but hey, Scarlett's not complaining! :)
