Lest we forget

It was Anzac Day yesterday and also a public holiday.

For those who are not farmiliar with Anzac Day, particularly those who don't live in Australia and New Zealand, here's a short brief of what it is:

Anzac Day is an important national day of remembrance for both Australia and New Zealand. It is the day where both countries commemorate those who have fought and died in war, and to the contribution and suffering to all those who have served. Anzac Day is always on the 25 April.

Each year, every state will conduct a remembrance Dawn service and followed by a Anzac Day Parade.

It is truly is a day to honour those who have fought in the war and to pay respect to the fallen diggers.

The Husband's paternal grandfather was a war veteran, who served during the World War Two. I remembered my father in law, telling me stories about his old pop but I couldn't quite remember now as it was a few years ago. Maybe I might ask him again when he visits us this year.

Anyway, my in laws handed down his war medals and a signet ring to The Husband for keepsake. I remembered The Husband was very honoured and touched when they given them to him. He has worn his grandad's signet ring ever since, everyday, alongside his wedding ring. To be very specific, on his right hand, fourth finger.

As it was Anzac Day, we brought out the war medals and showed it to Miss Bossy. Even though she may not know what they were, I am sure she has her whole life ahead to understand. She will also learn to know what a brave man her great grandad was, even though they never met.

Lest we forget.

 xo, Miss Leney
