[Restaurant Review]: C Restaurant

You could probably tell I hardly do reviews on restaurants in Perth at all mainly because, let's face it, we don't dine out a lot. It's hard enough to get a babysitter, let alone justifying the amount of money spent eating out. It is quite expensive to eat out at restaurants in Perth (and I'm not talking about takeaways) and we only do it on special occasion.

Anyway, this may be a late post but I'd thought I'll blog about it given that I actually made the effort to take photos of the food. I am usually quite embarrassed to whip out and take food photo in restaurant because it just look silly, even though many people are doing it lately.

However, on this day, the restaurant wasn't crowded so shy was not on the menu.

C restaurant is Perth's only revolving restaurant, located on Level 33 of a sky tower in the city. It has the best views of Perth city. Yeap, a good 360 degree view. It's was pretty cool.

The restaurant itself is quite big, given that it takes up the whole floor. We went there for our wedding anniversary Our initial plan was to go to Jamie's Italian but unfortunately, Jamie Oliver, the chef himself was visiting the Perth outlet so they were not opening the doors until rather late. We were starving and didn't want to wait so we walked over to C Restaurant.

We were the first few to arrive at the restaurant and was seated by the window. I was amazed by the view! And because it's a revolving restaurant, our view changes ever so often, which was great until you have to go to the washroom. When we came in, I noticed that the ladies was just around the corner from us but 15 mins later when I wanted to go, it was somewhere else! Took awhile to get use to!

Anyway, our maître d was friendly and knew the menu really well , which was refreshing. As it was lunch, we ordered just a main each, hot chips as a side and dessert to share. We also had some bread and butter to nibble before.

I ordered a couple of strawberry caprioska and the husband stick to his beer and wine. Shortly not long after, a wait staff came to our table with our complimentary canapé. It came dished in a spoon - it was an avocado ceviche with smoke salmon and caviar. It was delicious! I could easily have a few more of those.

The husband ordered the Char Grilled Fillet of Beef, served with spinach potato mash, asparagus, braised beef cheeks, sauteed vegetables and mustard sauce. I, on the other hand, ordered the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Risotto, served with creme fraiche, parmesan and thyme flavoured free range chicken breast, parmesan and black sesame tuile.

They were delicious. I tried some of The husband's dish and the beef was cooked perfectly and just how it should be, medium rare. The meat was tender and juicy and all the other components on the plate worked well together. My risotto was out of this world delicious. It was very tasty, generous serving of mushrooms and I could taste the subtle note of the truffle, which wasn't too overpowering. The chicken breast were moist and tender and the thyme flavour was just perfect to go with the chicken. The parmesan tuile worked perfectly too, gave the dish a little crunch and texture.

Shoestring fries with smoked paprika aioli dip (The dip was amazeball)

We also shared some shoestring fries that came with smoke paprika aioli dip. As for dessert, I ordered the Chocolate ganache beignet, spice pineapple, coconut tapioca. served with pineapple and basil sorbet. The husband was not at all keen with the dessert so he pretty much didn't touch any as it had all the ingredients he dislike, such as coconut and pineapple. Unfortunately, the rest of the dessert on the menu were pretty undesirable too but I thought perhaps the chocolate ganache beignet could win him over so I ordered it, but it didn't work. So I was left with the whole dessert myself.

The sad news was, this dessert was all round unsatisfying. Normally, I love pineapple and coconut but somehow I find that they just don't work well together in this dish. Maybe they were trying to create an asian twist but it just didn't work for me. I didn't finish the dessert.

Having said that, I enjoyed our meal at C restaurant. The service was good, and the view was marvelous. I reckon the atmosphere would have been lovelier and romantic at night.
