a very special annoucement

There’s a reason for my silence these couple of weeks, and a good reason so to speak. I am more than honoured, and please as punch to share this amazing joyful news to you, that I am pregnant! :)

I have officially hit the 3 months mark. Yes, I have been pregnant for the last 12 weeks and have been keeping it a secret from everyone, well, not everyone actually. We immediately told our families on the faithful day that I knew I was pregnant! And we’ve also since told our best friends and some of our work mates. So yeah, it’s not totally everyone. :)

The last 12 weeks has been a real experience for me. I happened to be one of those unfortunate ones who suffer from morning sickness. It’s definitely not pleasant and only of recent that I’ve resurfaced and feel human again. Due to being immobile most of the time, I’ve slacked off on a lot of things, like housework, blogging, cooking and even work. I just couldn’t function properly and I was not really enjoying the pregnancy and questioned myself what have I got myself into. Not until recently, my energy suddenly lifted out of nowhere and I was able to cook and do housework without the need to hurl that I’m starting to think that this whole pregnancy thing is not such a bad idea after all. That whole I-want-to-hurl-any-minute-now period is all behind me and that I am so ready to fully and truly embrace my second trimester (honeymoon period) with aplomb.

I am all very excited and nervous of becoming a mum, or us, being parents. John has been a trooper during this time and I am so thankful for him. He has, all these while, been picking up my slack and did everything on his own and I’m so proud of him. He is so supportive and encouraging in many ways that I have this huge amount of respect for him. I don’t know what I’ll do without him. And I know he’s going to be a great dad to our little one. Plus, we both agreed that if we do have a daughter, she’s definitely got him wrap around her little fingers!

Today we went to my first trimester ultrasound and I was a nervous wreck. For a start, I am a worry wart and I worry at almost everything. Despite everyone telling me that it's going to be alright and the baby will be healthy, I still worry! But when my sonogram technician and the doctor said to me that everything looks healthy and fine and that the baby is in the low risk of DS and any chromosome deformatives, I let out a big sigh of relief! Like, seriously!

That first moment when I saw our baby on the screen was unbelievable! And I knew, I just knew, when I heard that little heart pumping, that sweet little heart beat, that everything was going to be just fine.

At one point during the scan I muttered to the sonogram technician that the baby doesn’t seemed to move alot! Then she did a jiggle on my tummy and immediately our baby did its little dance and wiggle its hands and feet! OMG!! It was so precious and amazingly cute! John and I started giggling when we saw our baby did it's little dance! I was beyond words and I just felt so so happy. I was holding back my tears of joy!

I’m in awe of this journey and will document it down and cherish every moment. I really cannot believe that in a short span of 7 more months, I will get to cuddle our little bundle of joy. I am already so in love with my little baby dumpling!

Keep on growing my sweet little dumpling. I can’t wait to meet you in Spring!
