[Holiday]: Gardens by the Bay

So we made our way to Gardens by the Bay conservatories just before it started to pour! We didn't get to enjoy the outdoor gardens that much, just briefly glance through as we were rushing to beat the rain.

There are two indoor conservatories (two dome-like thingy) and they are called the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest. We bought tickets to both of the conservatories as I figured since we were there might as well do the whole tour thing.

Let me just say that I was absolutely impressed with the conservatories and particularly LOVE the Flower Dome. I have a penchant for flowers and pretty much anything to do with flower gardening and to be honest, I enjoyed every minute in there. I think it is every horticulturist's paradise!

The plants in the Flower Dome are mainly found in the Mediterranean and other semi tropical regions. And they also replicate the climate in the Flower Dome for these plants.

They had the Chinese New Year theme going on in there with red chinese lanterns being decorated in some parts of the area.

Inside the Flower Dome....

Vibrant Chinese New Year decorations hanged amongst the pussy willows...

John is a typical bloke hence found this flower power thingy abit boring for him. So he kept Scarlett entertained and goofed around with her while I stop and smelled the flowers. Scarlett had a ball running amok barefoot in there.

My very independent baby girl... blessed..

Mandarin oranges being shaped as a Snake as it is the year of the Water Snake in the Chinese Lunar Calendar...

A photo with the Chinese Lion Mask.. Mostly can be seen during the Chinese New Year to bring luck and prosperity.. The Chinese usually don on the mask and perform a Lion Dance and it's meant for good wishes and brings good fortunes etc.

After the Flower Dome, we made our way to the Cloud Forest conservatory. If you asked me, I preferred the Flower Dome for reasons quite obvious as I adore pretty flowers and such. However, Cloud Forest has its charm as well.

Cloud Forest features a 42 metre 'Cloud Mountain' that is accessible by an elevator and visitors are able to descend the mountain via walking down circular paths. There is also a waterfall that provides visitors with refreshing cool air. It's a pretty cool concept.

When we first walked in through the Cloud Forest doors, we were greeted with this huge waterfall. It was pretty impressive however very loud and wet. Scarlett was abit frightened with the sound and was clinging onto Daddy for dear life. We stood there for a few mins looking at the waterfall and explained and pointed it to her and after awhile she was OK and John walked closer to the fall with her in his arms. She didnt cry so that was a good sign LOL!

The waterfall that greeted us when we walked in..

Scarlett wasn't much of a fan as the sound of water splashing down was pretty loud..

The Cloud Mountain has a few levels. The top level is called the 'lost world' where pitcher plants, orchirds and fly traps are.

The sub level is named the 'secret garden' and that level is pretty cool because I spotted plenty of New Zealand tree ferns there.

There were also ferns on the ground level. It was in my opinion quite a magnificent man-made rainforest mountain.

Circular paths where visitors are able to walk on and explore the Cloud Mountain..

Walking through the paths... If you're afraid of heights than you'll have a problem!

We had a great time exploring Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. We went there on a weekday so there wasn't much crowd, which was good. But we were completely pooped out towards the end as we'd been walking around for a long time and our feet were killing us. Scarlett behaved that day so that made the whole exploration easier and we're quite thankful for that!
