Jacob's Ladder

A couple of us at work have started a lunch time exercise group recently. A group of us (mostly ladies) would head out for a walk up to Kings Park and conquer the infamous Jacob's Ladder.

Just a bit of history on Jacob's Ladder - Jacob's is located at the end of Cliff street which marks the boundary of Kings Park. It is basically a steep sets of stairs, 43 meters descent from the top of Cliff street to the bottom of Mounts Bay Road.. The challenge of Jacob's Ladder is to run, walk (and eventually stagger if you are not fit! I fall under here at the moment!!) up and down those grueling 300 steps. If you are after a good workout or are training up for a big mountain climb adventure, this is the place for you.

I'm not even joking. It is tough as nails. Even very fit people struggle towards their last few sets, these fitness freaks usually do six sets and more. Not so fit people like me would do two sets and on average others would do three or four. It is also very crowded during midday with all the lunch hour workout punters. As the mantra for Jacob's Ladder goes 'A ladder a day keeps those pounds away!'

When I first did Jacob's, I started with one set and by the end of it I thought I was going to die! I'm serious it's so hard! However, after going a few times now, I've worked up my stamina a bit and could do two and a half sets but struggle towards the end. I'm trying to work my way up to four sets if I could. It's a mission but I will get there eventually. Don't ask me when but I will, eventually!!

Although I must say, I feel like I have bionic legs afterwards. So tough but so good!

THE Jacob's Ladder - can't even see the bottom end!

This was me, afterwards. Knocking one out of the park!
